Multi-digit Multiplication PD
There is a lot of hidden mathematics in any math algorithm, and the traditional multiplication algorithm is no exception. This PD consists of nine 90-minute sessions to unpack the hidden mathematics embedded in the algorithm.
While the nine session could be done on separate days, we have found that chunking three sessions together per day is effective at helping teachers understand the seemingly simple algorithm.
Included here are the facilitation guides for you to create a positive and meaningful PD experience for your teachers. The intent is to provide the PD to your teachers with the opportunity for your teachers to become facilitators as well, thus building capacity within your own districts and schools.
